There is a new look in town, or should I say back again with a different name and an enhanced look? A dark academia style is categorized under a gothic inspired aesthetic with a preppy and a little more on the formal side or school uniform type of clothing. The look is meant to blend a sophistication and mystery with the nostalgia behind learning. Dark academia fashion centers on traditional styles of clothing like turtlenecks, vintage coats and blouses. The look is not meant to look cheap so invest in quality clothing.

The dark academia aesthetic can play around Harry Potter to hot librarian-core and preppy polo shirts. The trend has items like dark rimmed glasses, varsity stripes, tweed blazers, wool sweaters, tailored trousers  and pleated skirts. Basically this look is a collection of back to school outfits with a touch of modern sophistication and mystery. The best way to achieve this aesthetic is to stick to a muted color palette with shades of brown, grey and green. Accessorize with vintage collections like vintage watches, dark footwear mainly oxfords and loafers and leather satchels.

If you are looking to go deeper on the gothic academia style, assimilate clothing and accessories in deeper shades such as black, dark grey and navy. Gravitate your  layering towards dark-toned heavy fabrics like wool, corduroy and accessories with a vintage gothic flair.
